Another Name confirmed!
So today I am happy to confirm another HUGE talent from the South-west and one of the fastest raising stars in the UK to appear on the show one Chris “The Shark” Andrews!
If you have seen him wrestle you will understand why I am over the moon to have him booked, If you have not then 1 have you been under a rock? and 2 you are going to be in for a treat in July!
Who is running this?
I Had someone ask me the other day “who is the boss?”
So thought I would clear things up a little, Plymouth Wrestling Alliance is owned and run by John Harding and everything in PWA:UK is overseen by him
I am the MC of the shows, the man who tells you who everyone is and is kind of the voice of the company, “The Wrestling Superfan” Terry Speller.
behind the scenes I kinda act (sometimes) as a sounding board for the bosses ideas and sometimes I have been lucky enough to have some say as to who is good and who in my opinion is ready for a chance, I also help with publicity and spreading the word.
Fans also seem to feel like they can speak to me and when they do I do voice what they say and feel to the boss as in my opinion the fans are whats most important.
With PWA:Cornwall however It is myself and my wife (the official PWA Photographer) who are running things it is us who are doing all the promoting, publicity, poster/ticket designs, getting the talent and getting the venue etc.
The owner of PWA:UK gets his say but ultimately its down to me, if this show sinks its all on me if it flys I can hold my head high and be proud I did it and it would also be my way of saying “thank you” to PWA:UK for letting e live this dream.
Am I the boss? Nope but I guess im the GM of PWA:Cornwall.
Finding a venue.
Well this is most likely the hardest and most important thing to do when putting together a show.
I Live in Wadebridge, only moved here in December but already love it here, so here is where our first show will be 🙂
There are a few good halls here, but which one to book???
Things I need to think about, Size? do they have chairs? cost? are they allowed to hold a sports event?
All these I thought were ticked with the first hall I found and even got the ball rolling in hiring it until my wife turned round and said “If your going to do this and want to make a impact right away, why not get a Import over?”
“What a great idea” I said, So I contacted a very good friend of mine who is a agent to a few TNA Impact stars and is able to get hold of most people in the business in America.
After catching up and sorting out a few names and contacting them things were set in motion and I was getting excited until it dawned on me……I NEED A BIGGER HALL!!!!!!
The first I had got was perfect for a small show which i HAD planned but now it seemed to small so the hunt was on for a bigger venue right away I contacted the local leisure center all seemed perfect until a big problem occurred, They do not have any chairs!
So I looked into the cost of chair hire £400+ was the standard quotes which im sorry to say is a little over my budget!
I went to the local school in the hopes of hiring there chairs then when i was waiting to speak to someone I looked into the school hall it was big and had a stage and I had a flash back to a promotion I used to watch called DCW which always ran from a school hall, I remember always thinking those halls are perfect and the atmosphere they can create is so much fun, so when the nice person at the school turned up I said “Can I use your hall?”
So now I have a venue Wadebridge School Hall and A date July 26th
OH HELL YEAH!
The First steps…….
When I got up this morning I did the normal routine, sorted my children out with breakfast getting them dressed etc before taking some to school.
When I got home I had the first of many coffees of the day, and checked up on a few emails while the other children had a nap, while I was checking and talking to the owner of Plymouth Wrestling Alliance about a big Anniversary show he is putting together, a urge I have had that comes and goes came back again.
I really want to put on my own show!
After talking to my wife and then talking some more (she is the boss in this relationship) I told the owner of “PWA” that I or My wife and I want to put a show together in Cornwall and if he would be OK with us calling it PWA:Cornwall?
We wanted to give PWA that chance in Cornwall again, Â Also PWA gave me the chance to be part of the business and basically “live the dream” so did not want to stab him in the back and start yet another promotion (lets be honest there is far to many popping up these days), I mean it seems every part of the UK has at least 1 promotion in it, but NONE in Cornwall, so we wanted to be the first, yet still have that brand and backing of a established promotion.
So today PWA:Cornall is born, Cornwall’s very first Promotion, just for Cornwall and for the Cornish, No more waiting for any random company to maybe come this far down the UK, we are doing it for ourselves for you the Kernow Fans.
