Cornish Pro Wrestling *RESULTS & FALL-OUT*

cornwallposter

Sunday 26th July was the debut of CPW, what I expected was a OK turn out and good matches, what we got was……

A SOLD OUT venue where it became standing room only and every wrestler on the card putting more in to their matches than I could have ever hoped or asked for!

The feedback we have had has been unbelievable, we raised £265 for the charity Heidi’s QUEST plus half-way sold out tickets for the next show!

I think we got to around 258 fans in the venue before we stopped counting and just hoped we had space!

So what was the results you ask well here you are….

Match 1: “Brother vs. Brother”. Chris Andrews pinned his brother Sam Andrews after a “Main event” quality match.

Match 2: “The Mexican Devil” El-Diablo Loco vs. Making his Pro-wrestling debut Jamie Pearn “JP”. JP got a quick roll up on Loco after Diablo’s former tag team partner from Mexico appeared on stage, What does the future hold between Maximo Jr. and El-Diablo Loco???

Match 3: The Tag Team Match and another “Main Event” quality match, The team of Robbie Caine & UK Dominator took on “The Sleazest team in the UK today” The Magnums, This match was nuts and the crowd really loved every second, The Magnums picked up the win and a few phone numbers from the ladies in the crowd.

After the Interval we did the raffle and Chris Andrews and Jamie Pearn presented a well deserving boy who has had a brain tumor removed a signed framed event poster and he also got a standing ovation, which was very moving for everyone.

Match 4: “The Rocker” John Harding vs. “Mean” Tommy Dean this was just a war!! a hard-hitting brawl that could have gone either way, Harding picked up the win after a flurry of reversals, afterwards Dean beat down John until Simon Harding appeared and chased Dean off, everything was going well until Simon hit his Finisher on his brother John and stated “He is done living in Johns shadow” after simon left the ring John was helped to the back.

Match 5: to be crownd the first EVER CPW Trophy holder, Reaper vs. “Dancing Daddy” Bainsley, this was a fun match that got the crowd up on their feet, Bainsley won by hitting a big crossbody for the pin, after The “Party Animal” got all the kids in the ring to celebrate.

Match 6: (MAIN EVENT) “Winner” PJ Jones vs. former TNA Star Doug Williams. This match was just WOW! Lots of back and forth in this intense match, PJ picked up the dirty win though when UK Dominator pushed Williams off the top rope, Jones quickly covered with his feet on the ropes, afterwards PJ and UK Dominator carried on the attack until Chris Andrews run out and taking both Jones and Dominator out and chasing UK Dominator out to the backstage area, Doug got his revenge by hitting one of the Sickest Chaos Theory ever seen on PJ Jones to send the fans home happy

All in all our debut was a totally success and it is all thanks to the atmosphere the people of cornwall brought to the show and we Thank each and everyone of you who turned up.

We look forward to entertaining you all again in November.

The Little engine that could….

To give everyone a little bit of History, My name is Terry Speller, And I am Co-Owner and MC of CPW.

When I was a boy I used to watch “World of Sport” on LWT/ITV/Granada watching the likes of “Big Daddy” and Kendo Nakaski etc and then my parents got SKY TV and I saw WWF/E and my love of wrestling just grew and grew, I found VHS tapes of WCW and later ECW getting more and more hooked on everything the “business” had to offer then I found TNA/ROH/FIP and then started watching NWA/AWA/WCCW etc learning the history of the “sport”.

Skip ahead to 3 years ago and I went to see my first LIVE show in Plymouth for PWA:UK where I saw “Kid Kash” in a great match against Danny Walsh.
From seeing the show, and speaking with the owners, I realized I wanted to part of the world, more then just a fan.

From there I grew a strong friendship with the owners, we had more in common then just the wrestling world, he soon took me under his wing, showing me some (not all!) of the thing’s that go on behind the scenes in his company, one I was soon to become part of.

In November 2012 I stood in front of my first crowd, MC for PWA, honored to be part of the company, I did my best and hoped it was enough.
Over the next 2 years, I settled in as MC, soaking in all the knowledge from John Harding, as well as some of the wrestlers, who went out of their way to advice, listen and shout at me! It’s been hard but worth it, to know the do’s and don’ts, the in’s and out’s.

In this time I was given the chance to work with some great names like Joey Ryan, Sabu, (who was stood in lounge at one time, surreal moment)  had a meal with Gunner, been out drinking with James Storm and had a burger King and 5 hour car ride with “Kid Kash”.

Now, 3 years in, I am holding my own show in Cornwall, (with the support of PWA!) A place people have tried to run shows at before to little to no success,
A county that people have said “don’t bother doing” We have taken the risk, ignored those that said it’s not worth it, and we are aiming to put on a show that the fan’s will walk away from with a buzz and looking forward to the next.
We are not planning huge show’s, we know there are other promotions around the country that have “BIG” American stars and hold shows in front of crowds of 500+.
In Cornwall we understand this is not something that will happen and as such we are setting out to bring you Great action and fun and the Best of British each and every show, be it in front of 50,100 even 200 people.

As long as the people of Cornwall want Wrestling.
CPW will be here to deliver.
See you all on July 26th in Wadebridge School Hall, Cornwall.

In the words of that song by Staind “It’s been a while…”

So as per normal it has been a while since we updated and gave you all a peek behind that curtain as to what is going on in the world of CPW.

As you are (Hopefully) aware Carlito is no longer appearing on the show 😦 however the reason for this is/was totally out of our control as he was offered a better deal with a tour of china so pulled out of a few dates here in the UK.

If I was him I would have found the decision a hard one to……………….I bloody LOVE Chinese food!

We were very lucky to get former TNA star Doug Williams and he will now be Main Eventing against “Winner” PJ Jones which once we really thought about it and re-watched some old Doug matches we realized that we really should have went to Dog Williams first because this really has “classic” written all over it!

Then it hit us again, Right now in the wrestling world things are a little up in the air with the future of TNA a unknown and WWE/NXT getting talent from everywhere, We need to make stars out of the talent we have in the UK as we shouldn’t have to rely on USA and other countries.

Doug Williams is a UK Legend! who has been to TNA and done what had to be done and is now back doing what he loves where he loves. there are others like him another name is Joel Redman, a man from the south-west who went the WWE-NXT and become the first ever NXT Tag Team Champion with current WWE star Neville. there is TNA Boot camp finalists Dave Mastiff, Marty Scrull, Rampage Brown to name a few, these are all people who are the best in the UK and I honest feel talent like The Magnums, PJ Jones, UK Dominator, Chris Andrews to name a few are people who deserve to be on that list and one day will be.

So Yes it might be a novelty to have a “name” from the states or TV be a “one-off” but its the British talent that will be here day-in, day-out and be the ones carrying UK Wrestling into the future.

So with that said Cornish Pro Wrestling has decided that we will focus on UK Talent and the stars of the future. because they deserve it and they are just as good as ANY “name” from around the world.

On July 26th 2015 from Wadebridge School hall in Cornwall, Cornish Pro Wrestling arrives and makes a statement, We promise to give Cornwall a great evening of Wrestling with the Best the UK has to offer and we will keep doing so with every show we put on.

We are CPW and here we come!

11212640_699948130115118_5650045380678524101_o

Things have happened behind the scenes with in PWA:UK that I am unable to talk about at the moment.

I have not pissed anyone off or stepped on peoples toes,

Just things are changing behind the scenes in Plymouth meaning I may not be needed as MC but we will see.

Anyway CPW has been born and our first show is still the Huge Wadebridge event on July 26th, also we have already added onto our brand new Facebook page another event which will take place in St Austell on 30th of August.

Also we have had a email back from a radio station working out dates to do a interview and it looks like it will be on at breakfast time meaning far more listeners! so very happy with that we can plug our July show and also the St Austell one at the same time (kill to birds with one stone)

If you want us to come to your town let us know, we are already looking at Newquay and Truro, Bodmin

So as you can see its all change but all (we hope) for the better

On wards and Upwards

All Change……

Things have all changing here at the moment but not in a bad way but in a exciting way, If not a little scary for us behind the scenes, we do have some good and bad news though.

We can not go in to details however the show is still all a go and is shaping up to be a real “Moment” in wrestling history here in Cornwall.

First the Bad news: TNA Star Gunner due to unforeseen circumstances will NOT be appearing at the show, we really are sorry to all those that had bought tickets just to see him in action, we promise we WILL get him to appear at a later date.

Now the Good news: Instead of Gunner we have booked former WWE Superstar CARLITO! for those that might need a reminder he “spits in the face of people who don’t want to be cool!” he is a former Intercontinental Champion (beating Shelton Benjamin) A former United States Champion (beating John Cena on his debate match) and a former 2x Tag Team Champion.

So The new main event will be John Harding vs Carlito AND just because he was shouting his mouth off lets make it a triple threat and have “The WinnerPJ Jones in the mix too!

So we hope to still see everyone there at Wadebridge School on July 26th for what will be a action packed night of fun and excitement for the whole family.

carlito-ebk8gz3c-1318761532 his cool you know.

Its Been A while…..

Sorry to everyone that we have not updated lately, lots going on behind the scenes.

Our main event is shaping up well with TNA Star Gunner taking on John Harding, PJ Jones doesn’t seem to like that idea and wants himself to be in Johns place so wondering what we should do about that.

Who will face Chris Andrews????

If anyone is wondering why the Official PWA:UK facebook page has not been updated nor the PWA:Cornwall event page its because at the moment the “boss” has taken me off admin duties while he sorts somethings out, Do not worry I am still the one running the July 26th Show.

We have got the go a head with 2 radio stations in cornwall for interviews etc and even and I am really not joking BBC are interested and we are just working stuff out.

Now if IF BBC do do something it will be something on Spotlight news or on BBC Radio Cornwall. I can confirm I am NOT in the running to take over Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear……………I don’t Drive DAMN IT!

Exciting news: we hope to bring you a Lucha Libra match on the show with 2 masked wrestlers (more info soon)

We can Confirm that REAPER will be in action against “Dancing Daddy” Bainsley.

See you all at Wadebridge School, July 26th
